Chris Walk

Chris Walk Against Substance Abuse was established in the summer of 2007 after the death of Christopher Foley from a heroin overdose.

Chris’ family decided to hold a walk and awareness rally and also raise funds for local substance abuse prevention programs.

Now in our tenth year, Chris Walk is a 501c3 non-profit organization that seeks to do more.

Heroin, Meth, Cocaine, Synthetic drugs, prescription drug abuse, and Alcohol abuse are ripping apart our families.

We have experienced it firsthand and want you to know that you are not alone in your struggles.

Our mission

To advocate and be a support for those addicted as well as their families who are experiencing substance abuse issues.

Fundraising

We aim to raise funds for local substance abuse prevention programs, resources, events, and activities.

Raising Awareness

We are dedicated to raising substance abuse awareness by sharing our story through public speaking, education, media contact, and any other means available.

October 2017

Dear Friends,

The Chris Walk Against Substance Abuse Board met on Thurs. Oct. 19, 2017.  One of our agenda items was to discuss whether to continue our flagship event “Night Out Against Substance Abuse.”

Chris Walk was first held 10 years ago at the time when heroin and opioid abuse was thought to only be in Chicago.  We felt the need to educate and advocate in our community.

The last few years we have seen a decline in attendance, not reflective of the increase in illicit, synthetic and prescription drug use and overdoses that are happening in our communities, so we feel we need to seek new avenues to help.

We are appreciative of those that have supported this event over the years and are blessed by the attendees that have become our lifelong friends.

CWASA will continue to work in our community to bring awareness, education and support but the Night Out Against Substance Abuse has been cancelled until further notice.

We will be looking for new venues and partnerships so please feel free to contact us if you find that we can be of help.

Sincerely,

Vicki Foley
